Is Puffinjay in connection to what Lord Rocberg calls Diavolo in FRA DIAVOLO? I always thought he says: "pop-in-jays"?

A pollywog? I usedto call dogs "polly's" when I was a kid...I always presumed it was some daft form of rhyming slang...a pollywog = a dog.

It did in my world anyway, I was only little, I didn't know any better...
suppose I'd better shut up now...

from Dictionary.com

Quote:
Variant of polliwig, from Middle English polwigle : pol, head; see poll + wiglen, to wiggle; see wiggle

although I quite like this meaning
Quote:
n : a larval frog or toad [syn: tadpole, pollywog
, Ollie`s calling him an overstuffed toad

Regarding the puffinjay question, it is indeed 'puffinjay' from Fra Diavolo.

Polliwog comes from Fins comment to Ollie in Blockheads. He calls Babe an 'overstuffed Polliwog' (fat toad - sort of).

Even more ranks will be added in time and I'll make more images shortly too to go with them.

Hey, I just noticed that I'm a cuckoo. It's about time I got a title that accurately described me! Actually, I did like the Edgar Kennedy Slow Burner thing, but being a cuckoo is what I like best around here, anyway, so it's good. I like the design of the Fresh Fish and the delightful absurdity of the Singapore Eskimo, too.

I'll probably be a cuckoo for awhile. I'm not trying to build up huge numbers of posts. Except for occasional contributions to the "3 Word Story", or occasional short responses, I usually don't like leaving really short posts. I figure that since each post takes up a certain amont of space (a 1-word post will leave a lot of empty space in its box), we might as well fill it with something that at least fills that minimum space. Of course, then I sometimes get carried away and write something even longer.

Which reminds me of an interesting story. You see, there was this movie where...
