    Another L&H Landmark In Scotland

No Takers For Laurel And Hardy Mansion

A MANSION where Laurel and Hardy regularly stayed is still for sale - a month after going on the market at offers over 1.5million.

The four-bedroomed Tigh Na Righ - or House of Kings - is described as "one of the most striking Glasgow mansion houses to appear on the market in years".

But the posh Whitecraigs home of businessman Matt Thomson has yet to be snapped up.

Laurel and Hardy stayed there when former cinema and theatre magnate Sir Alex King owned it.

He entertained some of the world's top stars, and there are statues of Laurel and Hardy in the entrance hall.

Earlier tonight I was speaking to Lois Laurel-Hawes and on this subject she stated that her father only ever stayed in hotels while in Scotland and two nights in Sir Harry Lauders home. She said that it is common in the States for someone to try and associate a property with a famous name in an attempt to sell it for more money. It may well be that Stan and Ollie visited the person rather than staying with him.

Maybe that is what is happening here? Either way a mere mention of Laurel and Hardy's name and the story makes the national press, however accurate the story is it just shows the publicity and recognition that Stan and Ollie still get.

Can anyone find any information on Sir Alex King? I'm having trouble tracking any down.
