Hi salk and welcome to this forum.

It's a great website! Very well done with a lot of information.
We had a discussion about it some month ago now and everybody
was enthusiastic.

Is it your site? So you probably can give us some more interesting
details about the Ida May, if we ask? Wink

Kay, Neil, and Lucy,

Thank you for your reply. We hope all is well in Germany and the U.K.
Yes, we currently own Stan's boat and working diligently to restore her to the original valor and celebrity! Feel free to ask any questions. I chat with Stan's daughter, Lois on a daily to weekly basis and we have her best wishes. We will continue to post any new photos we find and interesting stories for all to see. As you may know we finally tracked down the ship's clock that Stan removed almost 70 years ago. It is now back! An amazing story of its return is on the website www.idamay.org
If anyone has any pertinent photos of Laurel and Hardy fishing or on their yacht, please, please send them our way. We are still trying to compile more and more information for everyone to enjoy!

Warmest Regards,

Bob and Steve

Loved reading your article Salk. if that boat could talk I bet she could tell a few good stories. Now you can catch your own fish. Wink

A great site, with many beautiful personal photographs of Stan, Ruth and Lois. Very touching to see Stan, not just as performer but devoted family man, too.

Thanks for the comments. Some people have been asking when we will be finished with the restoration. We hope the final phase will be finished in the next couple of years.

Wish us luck and take care all.

Welcome to the forum guys you have a great site. All the best with the restoration work. Will the yacht be active once it's restored? Perhaps you could one day allow fans like us to visit her as an L&H tourist attraction???... and perhaps sail in her... for the right price of course. Very Happy

Hey, you've got a great website! It's good to know that the yacht is still with us, and in good shipshape. I think that it would be great if occassional groups of Laurel and Hardy fans could ride on the Ida May. You could even take a laptop computer with DVD player aboard and show a couple of nautical-related L+H films while at sea. Then, on a chartered bus returning (with video monitor), the fans could watch Two Tars, Men O' War, and Any Old Port, which have to do with sailors Stan and Ollie on land.

Don't you think we should filll the boat with water to check for leaks first?

Shocked

Neil,

We agree a very touching story. Captain Fismer is a great individual, we could learn a lot from his kindness and generosity for returning Stan's personal items back to the family.

Hope to have the Stan's yacht shipshape for everyone to see soon. Bernie's idea of making sure we fill her first with water to check for any leaks is a good one! Very Happy All the best to Bernie for his amazing project with www.lettersfromstan.com
