Hi everyone- there has been a discussion withing this thread of a gift being sent to Lois Laurel Hawes. It was on my mind for ages after I spoke to her when she mentioned that she hadn't received her 21 disc box set just over 2 years ago ! I was quite shocked to hear this, and so thought that it might be a good idea to raise some cash and buy the set for her as a gift from the sons of the desert. Smile Donations will be great. Now Amazon has the box set for £109 but the problem is postage. It will be in the region of £25- 40 to send to the USA- as it will be heavy. For now I'm hoping to raise the cash for the box set. Anyone who wants to make a donation please contact me via pm or e-mail.

Thankyou,

Lucy Very Happy

Hi everyone.

Just to let you all know I was reading a few e-mails regarding Lois's gift- Maybe if a few of us e-mailed the company and put them to shame. Rob Lewis (Helpmates tent) has contacted a friend who has contacts within the Universal company, so any of you who were wanting to make a donation please hang on to it for now! I will keep you all informed as to what comes of this.

Thankyou Smile

Fantastic news, last week I wrote a letter to Universal Pictures regional office in London and outlined what we were doing and I just got a phone call in reply from the head of marketing. Universal have been in touch with Glenn Mitchell and are getting Lois's address from him, Universal have said they will send off a box set to Lois as soon as possible.

I know its a little later than they planned but we must realise that with companies this large things can easily be overlooked. Personally I would like to aknowledge that Universal have now made good on a promise and are going to do a very nice thing that will bring much happiness to Lois, Stan's grand child and great grand children.

Well done to all involved, especially Lucy for bringing this to all out attention.

I must sort of repeat what Dean has said, Rob Lewis put me directly in touch with Glenn and I gave him Lois's current address, as he only had her old one. I will call Lois in a week or so just to make sure she receives it, or I might wait till she calls me, so she is suprised.

Thankyou to all who took such an interest in getting this box set to Lois, I'm sure she will be very very happy. Very Happy Wink

Well done Lucy! This was your intiative and it has acheived a great result through co-operative effort. But without your kick-start, Lucy, Lois could have waited another two years before getting the set. (Possibly, she still might, but let's hope Universal does the right thing this time.)
It was brave of you to volunteer to co-ordinate the fund-raising and admin. You only got a hint of the problems involved so you can imagine what might have developed.
Well done Dean, for sorting it out, but it came full circle, back to Lucy, which is fitting.
BS. This is quite a feather in the cap for the Forum, too, as most of the communication has been through this medium.

Hello Lucy:

Does Lois have a player that will show the box set format here in the USA ?

I have KODAK MOMENTS of Lois & Tony from the 1994 SOD Int. Convention at Terrytown, New York.

A very Graceous Lady and shared stories about her father.

Hi Dennis:

I was told that Lois has a multi-region dvd player so it shouldn't be a problem for her to play them. Very Happy
