Well... it seems to be sorted now.

No messages banning me and I can type in HEALTH! Yes - I can say I AM A NURSE WHO WORKS IN MENTAL HEALTH!!!

Which is what set the whole ruddy thing off in the first place.

So I'm happy enough folks - sorry to be a pain - I really do think that the filter should be sorted though - who'd be persitent enough to post 10 things to get it sorted - I reckon many would give up and feel fed up with it.

But not me... oh no, I'm like a dog with a bone... I won't let it drop when I'm on the case - hence the name 'Columbo' - very apt.

Very Happy

Anyhow - I'm reet now - sorted!

Smile

I don't know where all this malarky leaves my welcome greeting to Neil, perhaps that's been deleted or something. Anyway, it supports my notion that we need a mental nurse in our midst. I can't see what all the fuss was about, although I was made to retract a word as politically un-pc. Such a shame these days when you can't use plain English. Welcome again, Neil.

Okay, Columbo, you've had a bad experience.

I must say you have been the exception; most people manage to jump right in and start having fun. I'm genuinely sorry this hasn't happened with you.

You must see that this is a forum which has quite a lot of younger readers as well. I would sooner see an over-enthusiastic spam filter, than one which allows something "unfortunate" through which either myself or one of my fellow moderators does not manage to get to in time.

You've had experience of this type of junk before. You know where we are coming from.

Serious stuff over. I genuinely welcome you here, and you should now have no problems.

All I can say is that you've got your work cut out for you here at the Forum! Most of us here are quite sanity-challenged, and proud of it, too.

But seriously, it's nice to have you here, and hope that you can enjoy the Forum, now that you don't have any more technical difficulties keeping you from accessing the site. Because you're a professional with mental health patients, I wonder what your opinion is of the way that "old-time" comedy (such as Laurel and Hardy) treated the subject. There are a few Laurel and Hardy films in which mentally unstable people are portrayed, such as the professor in Habeas Corpus and Mae Busch's character in Come Clean. Or do you just accept that a silly movie is just that, and nothing more?

I forgot. Then there's Oliver the 8th, too. Of course, there's Noah Young as the Tipton Slasher in Do Detectives Think? After Stan and Ollie's struggle with him, and he sees that the handcuffs went on Ollie instead of him, he has such a look of evil glee on his face as the Boys go running off in terror, and he picks up his knife and starts after them. It's like he's forgotten his original plan to have his revenge on Judge Foozle, and now just wants to kill anybody he can get close enough to. Check out the topic on Do Detectives Think? that I started the other week.

Very Happy You would mention Oliver the 8th lol!

Love that...

Have you ever had yer throat cut - well yer going too!

And of course the meal lol.

Nah... it's all comedy... I do have issues re: the amount of times Ron Weasley says "You're Mental" in the Harry Potter films (to me it's used abusively like the un-pc terms 'spack' and 'mong' which I find offensive).

As to L&H's use of it - it was certainly of it's era, so who could argue with PC issues (such as Stan calling Ollie "Sambo" in 'Pardon Us').

Anyhow, as long as it doesn't add to the 'stigma' of mental health then I reckon it's okay... I used to love HM Murdoch in the A-Team too! Smile

Better to deal with these things openly than to 'pussyfoot' around... some of my research in humour therapy states that you don't need to exclude humour in mental health for fear of upsetting someone who has issues - and that's something I firmly believe - honesty and openness wherever applicable.

Anyhow lol, going off at a tangent here... so all I'll say is:

"Nice weather we had tomorrow" and exit!

Smile

By the way, hope you don't mind... may I ask... that purse you bought for your wife, Mrs. Columbo would dearly like one I figure... could I get something like that for around oh, let's say 10 dollars?

Very Happy
