What is an avatar?

An avatar is the little photograph below your username when you post on the forum (see mines to the left of this post)

Do I need one?

To keep within the spirit and theme of the forum it certainly looks better to have one and it is preferred that your avatar is either Laurel & Hardy related or an image of yourself.

Where can I choose my avatar?

We have a Laurel and Hardy avatar gallery to allow members to pick their own. PM me if you would like a custom one made.

How do I add one myself?

The forum Avatar Gallery is now available to all members. You can access it from the avatar control panel at the bottom of your profile (see image below).

All the avatars in the gallery are Laurel & Hardy related.

More avatars will be added to the gallery soon.

Hope you like 'em Very Happy

Can someone tell me how to create an avatar? I would like to use any shot of Stan and Ollie from Liberty. I do not have the slightest idea how to do this.

Thanks!!! There are some pictures under a topic called "Liberty Pics" where someone has created avatars. Can those be used?

Thanks...

Yeh you can use whatever you like. Avatars need to be sized at 85 x 85 pixels. If you need any help, let me know and I will make one from whatever photo you chose.

Thanks Ross for your help. The picture I would like is under the topic Liberty Pics, on page 2, and it is the 8th picture down. Features Stan alone, who is standing crooked after the crab pinched him for the first time.
Thanks again ,for all of your help. This is a great site! I love it.

Say, Ross: can an avatar move?
I mean, can we choose an animated gif as an avatar?

It caused lag before (we think) but you can try. If it starts to cause lag again we can remove them again. The avs are smaller now (85 x 85) than they were before so that might help.

New avatars added to the avatar gallery. Access the avatar gallery from your profile (scroll back a few posts for help).
