How about we arrange a forum visit to Ulverston and the museum with as many members as possible travelling to meet up?

I know its not a big place, but I'm sure we could get enough to just fill the little cinema room!! A few of the more knowledgable ones could maybe give us a tour of Ulverston.

That's a great idea Black Raven. If I could get over there then I certainly would. How much do you think a Taxi from Newcastle to Ulverston costs Razz Laughing

I think I could make it across and back by train in a day. Is there a station in Ulverston or would I have to get there from a near by one?

Yes theres a station in Ulverston, great, regular service as well. Anytime I've went its been by train, from Preston, back in the day when my Gran lived in Blackpool, for my sins I lived there briefly as well, only good thing was I could go through to Ulverston every weekend.

I used to go camping in the Lakes every bank holiday weekend. But first thing Monday morning we would set off home, but we would call at Ulverston museum on the way back.

This sounds like a great idea!

What are the dates?

Never been the carnival - I presume it gets busy and difficult to find somewhere to stay?

I believe it's on the first Saturday in July (2nd July). I'll check it out and leave a confirmation here.

I've had a look at an Ulverston website, and can confirm it definitely is July 2nd. And yes, they are usually very busy, but definitely well worth a visit.

Has any of you been before. What are the usual events?

Do you normally stay in a hotel/guesthouse or camp? Either way, would be nice if we can all stay somewhere together/close by.

I went to the carnival about four years ago. It's a very colourful day out, and everyone seems very friendly. For some strange reason, it's apparently always very, very hot and sunny on the day as well.

I haven't booked yet, but have any other members. I will go to meet forum members, but kinda pointless otherwise. I was only going to go myself to meet members, so if anyone is going, shout up.
