I would love to Ross but alas it is too far away. I hope it all goes well though, I'm sure it will.

Well after a near nervous shakedown, tonights event for The Scottish Music Hall & Variety Theatre Society finally came and went. A few sons were also in attendance which certainly helped my confidence.

The evening went very well and well known entertainer/actor Johnny Beattie was in attendance. He was very keen to join the sons and was presented with an honorary membership of the Fra Diavolo tent. Johnny entertained us with his stories of when he saw Laurel and Hardy live at the Empire performing the drivers licence sketch. To our sheer delight, the gentleman sitting behind Johnny happened to be at the L&H Empire show too. It was fascinating to hear first hand exactly what the boys did on the night they performed in Glasgow. Johnny has agreed to let me interview him about this so I can share the information with you all.

Johnny Beattie as 'Malcolm' in BBC TV's River City.
