Brand spanking newbie here. Thorougly enjoyed the statue unveiling in Ulverston yesterday and thought I would search the net to see what L&H stuff was out there. A mind-boggling amount of stuff as it turns out. I stumbled into this site and took the plunge: registered and started posting this, without even delving further into the wonders therein.

Does it show that I have never posted anything on a forum before? But with the prospect of being surrounded by hordes of rabid L&H fans, I threw caution to the wind and jumped in with both feet....

It goes without saying that L&H are the greatest comedians ever, but I thought I would mention it anyway, just in case anyone has an doubts. And the following they have created seems to be one of the nicest, most fun-loving group of people I have ever come across. A fine legacy, even beyond the timeless films they made.

Welcome to the Forum Greystoke and Greetings from Bonnie Scotland, What a wonderful week-end we had eh ? 'UNFORGETTABLE' and with all these video clips, I am just out of shot in every one ! perhaps they were trying to tell me something. :?

Sincere thanks to all the "reporters" and cameramen, especially Ross. I'm sure I speak for loads of us who couldn't be there, for whatever reason, I am so grateful for experiencing this great event "second hand", and having it brought to me at home. There's nothing quite like a gathering of the Sons, not to mention the hangover.

Just re-uploaded the footage I took (see link in my previous post) if you haven't seen it yet.

Neil I can't believe we were so close to each other and I never saw you, although in looking at that photo of you with the statue no wonder I didn't notice you. Looks like you were in disguise haha. Great pics.

More footage to come.. watch this space!

We were at the pub around 6ish and had planned to come in but we just ran out of time. Hunter had school next morning and the person I was with was driving and had to be home for 10ish. We had a 3 hour drive to get home so couldn't hang around much to my dismay. After I left I thought to myself, Neil was probably at the pub and I wished that I had looked in just to say hello even if it was brief. I am hoping I might be able to make the convention.

It was a splendid day and one which I will always remember and treasure the memory. Such a great statue and such a tremendous atmosphere. I have posted just a few photos on BD Online (at http://www.bowlerdessert.co.uk), but I have also posted a few links which give full coverage of the event. Well worth visiting the various sites.

Great work Ross. Thank you... l liked the little statue.
That'd be neat if they had some for sale in the museum...

Ah yes Bill that is the original prototype for the main statue and they presented it to Ken Dodd for doing the unveiling.

What a great to idea to have 'mini' statuettes made for sale. I'll suggest that to Mark at the museum.

Mr. Hall, that little replica of Statue was the 1st. raffle prize at the celebration dinner on the Saturday eve, The winning ticket no. was 367 - I had no. 365  I was gutted ! If only I'd bought two more tickets, 'Twas Ever Thus' :(
Limited edition, can't buy them.

I'm confused John, was there more than one then? Didn't they announce that it was the original prototype when they presented it to Ken or have I got confuddled?

The photos and videos really bring out all the enthusiasm and spirit of those who were fortunate enough to attend.
Thanks to everyone who posted those so that we all could share in the excitement of that special day.

Yes Ross, there were three, the main one being the raffle prize which was a little bigger than the one presented to Ken, and Marion has one in the museum. :P
